An old Cherokee teaching his grandson about life said, 1
"A fight is going on inside me.
A terrible fight between two wolves.
One is evil, and the other is good.
This same fight is going on inside you
And every other person."
His grandson asked, "Which wolf will win?"
And he said, "The one I feed."
Reflecting on this.
Every morning when you get up, it's another day to fight again. The same battle you fought the day before, and perhaps prevailed or failed. The same fight you will keep fighting every day.
This battle is a fight between" two wolves" within you.
One Wolf portrays the distractions, inconsistencies, indisciplines, and lack of commitment you confront every day.
The other depicts the focus, consistency, discipline, and commitment in the everyday.
These "two wolves" are at a constant and perpetual war against each other and they aim to gain your attention and win you over.
One wants you to get better, do better, and live better, while the other wants you to remain poorer and undisciplined.
Reflect: Your daily choices and actions determine which wolf wins.
The real fight of life is an internal battle. And it is one you can win daily.
The truth is, thinking about your life as a battle seems exaggerated and combative. But it is the best bet to win in life. By your actions and decisions every day, you graze the winning wolf.
This battle is unending. You will keep fighting every day in every week to keep your focus, stay consistent, and stay committed and disciplined.
The two possible outcomes of this fight are a win or a loss. And you choose your lot daily.
Every day, you allow the right wolf to win by your decisions.
The purpose and the outcome of this battle is growth. When you engage in this daily fight, you will change, grow, and get better.
This daily win against distraction, inconsistency, indiscipline, and lack of commitment, no matter how insignificant, determines your growth!
Quote: "You grow to the degree at which you win every day in life's fight."
Bringing this Home
The desire to win in this fight without the preparedness to win is nothing.
Daily, you must be fully prepared to, no matter what, win in this fight.
To set yourself up for winning;
Figure out “What” it means to Win to you.
We all have distinct meanings for what winning daily means. And we all have different life struggles. But for certain, we have struggles. They only make us humans, and hence, the essence of striving daily to win.
Knowing what it means to win is knowing the goal of winning. This is knowing the destination of all of your fights daily. This is knowing where all your struggles lead.
Question: What does it mean to win daily?
Know “WHY” you want to win.
Knowing why you want to win births clarity and helps you focus on winning daily.
A clear focus births results and eliminates distractions.
If you can understand and convey precisely WHY you try daily, you will win at what you do because your WHY gives you a reason to.
You will not give up easily, get bored or even tired while at it.
When you understand WHY, you will make well-educated decisions that will set you up for winning in life daily.
Question: Why do you get up from bed and fight to win every day?
Understand "How" to win.
"HOW" is the system or the vehicle that brings your "WHY" to reality. "How" is what you do every day.
"How" births the discipline and commitment needed daily to fight and win in life.
Understanding the "how" to go about fighting and winning in life puts you a step ahead of quitting.
You will have a well-informed knowledge of making your daily decisions into actions when you understand How.
Better put, you will do more when you know "How" to.
Ensure that your How aligns with your Why. Your system should align with your life goal. Your guiding principles should align with your life goals.
Question: How do you win daily?
To win daily, answer these questions
“What do I want in life? - The goal and the destination of my daily struggles.”
“Why do I want what I want? - The reason and the essence of my daily struggles”
“How do I get what I want? - The system required to get me to my destination.”
Action: Go all out there and win every day! Win against distractions. Win against inconsistencies. Win against lack of commitment. Win against every life struggles daily! Every day, choose to build an intentional life where you will show up regularly and win!
I pretty hope you learned something from this note.
The goal is to build intentional people who will win in life's fights daily. You can be one!
